Imperial Milk Stout Brewed with Fresh Local Ginger and Honey

Brewed with baby ginger from Casselmonte Farm and wildflower honey from Bearer Farms, Hardywood Gingerbread Stout captures the terroir of central Virginia in a rich, creamy libation with a velvety mouthfeel and an intriguing evolution of flavors from milk chocolate and vanilla to honeycomb and cinnamon to a snap of ginger in the finish.

Deep, dark chocolate in color with a mahogany tint and a frothy, caramel colored head, Hardywood Gingerbread Stout offers aromatics of holiday spice originating from the ginger, and balanced with a generous dose of whole Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans and Vietnamese cinnamon. Milk sugar (lactose) contributes to the full body of this stout and tames its roasty character, while oats lend a silky quality. Enjoy fresh, or cellar for a special occasion. I was surprised to find both GB Stout and Single at my local Wal-Mart at Hull and Winterpock last night. Bought a bottle of the Stout for the holidays. I also had the Single on tap at Halligan's Bar in Short Pump this week.

THANK YOU kdough for posting about finding GB Stout at Walmart! As soon as I read that I drove there and bought the last 3 bottles. I tried Once Upon a Vine in my northside neighborhood and they were out. Could Hardywood perhaps post a list of places to check out when we need to get our fix? It would be greatly appreciated!

Our next Reserve Series beer, Mocha Belgique, will be released this Thursday, Jan. 26 at 4PM in the tasting room, and will be available at local stores and restaurants starting on Friday. We're holding a launch event for Hardywood Gingerbread Stout at the brewery on Nov. 17 - details are here: http://www.facebook.com/events/175367972596203/ The majority of what we brew will be sold through the best restaurants and beer stores in the Richmond area starting mid-November. We'll have a few batches of this beer, so it will be rolled out over a few week period. We're also currently aging a batch of Gingerbread Stout in bourbon barrels for a mid-December release...details to follow.

I live in Massachusetts but my friend lives in Virginia so I already asked her to pick me up some Gingerbread Stout around it's release! I can't wait to try it! Hope Hardywood gets much bigger and that way our store here in Ma. can start selling Hardywood! Every beer looks excellent!
